Holtorf, Johnson And Fiedler Win WBSC U-18 World Cup

LIMA, Peru – The Husky freshmen trio of Kinsey Fiedler, Olivia Johnson and Rylee Holtorf won the WBSC U-18 World Cup as part of USA Softball's U-18 Women's National Team. The U.S. team defeated Chinese Taipei 1-0 on a walk-off hit in the World Championship gold medal game on Sunday.

The U.S. claimed a fourth-consecutive WBSC Junior Women's World Championship title, having won the previous three World Championships in 2015, 2017 and 2019. It was the second consecutive tournament victory for the U.S., claiming gold at Junior Pan American Games last week in Colombia.

The three Huskies continued to perform at a high level throughout the tournament, highlighted by Holtorf who was named to the All-Tournament team. Holtorf hit .417 over six games with two doubles, driving in five runs and scoring three.

Fiedler didn't miss a beat from her performance the previous week, hitting .435 with a triple, a home run, 6 RBI and scoring 10 runs while in Peru. Fielder primarily hit in the second spot in the order while handling the shortstop duties for the U.S.

Hitting .312 in the tournament, Johnson scored five runs and drove in three, while drawing four walks.
