2022 Lacrosse Schedule Released

Dec 13, 2021
Morgan Pence (25) celebrates a goal against USC with teammate Ashley Stokes (9) in 2021.

BOULDER — With the calendar changing to 2022 in a few weeks, it is time to start looking forward to the start of another University of Colorado lacrosse season.

The Buffaloes will play four of their five first contests of the 2022 season at home at Kittredge Field and of those five, four will be against opponents they have played in the last two seasons.

The season opener on February 11, in Boulder, will be against the University of Louisville, which Colorado opened the season on the road against in 2021.  This will be the first trip to Boulder for the Cardinals.

The Buffaloes will then head to Cambridge, Mass., for the first time in program history to face Harvard on February 20. CU played Harvard in its second of five games before the 2020 season was cut short due to the pandemic. CU won that game, 9-7.

Keeping with the firsts, Colorado will host Ohio State on February 27, to wrap up the month. While OSU might be a new opponent, its coach is not. Head coach Amy Bokker coached at Stanford from 2009-19 and in that time faced the Buffs many times as a member of the MPSP and Pac-12 Conferences.

Colorado's homestand will end the first week of March with the Buffaloes hosting Vanderbilt and UC Davis. Vanderbilt, another team making its first trip to Boulder, will face Colorado on March 4, while UC Davis, a team that has visited Boulder a couple of times as a former MPSF rival, will be in town on March 6.

Pac-12 play will start the following weekend and the Buffaloes will be on the road for the first three league games. They will travel to L.A. for a game against Southern California on March 11 and on March 13, the Buffaloes will be in Tempe, Ariz., for a contest against Arizona State. Then on March 18, Colorado will head to the Pacific Northwest to take on Oregon.

The final weekend of March will bring the Buffaloes home to wrap up the first half of conference play. They will host Stanford first on March 25 and California second on March 27.

The second half of league play begins with CU heading to Northern California for a rematch against Stanford and California on April 1 and April 3, respectively. Following those two games, the Buffs return home to close out conference play with three straight games against USC (April 15), ASU (April 17) and Oregon (April 22).

The final game of the season is a non-conference tilt against in-state rival Denver on April 27 in Denver.

In total, the 2022 schedule has the Buffaloes playing 16 games, nine at home and seven on the road. Ten of those are conference games as the Pac-12 plays each team twice (home and away). The Pac-12 Network will televise six of CU's games, two at home (Stanford, March 25 and ASU, April 17) and four on the road.

The Pac-12 Tournament is set to take place May 4-7, in Tempe, Ariz., at Sun Devil Lacrosse Stadium, with ASU serving as the host for the first time in tournament history. All five contests will also be televised on Pac-12 Network.

The NCAA Tournament field will be announced on May 8 with the first and second rounds taking place May 13-15, respectively. The quarterfinals are slated for May 21 and 22. The semifinals are scheduled for May 27 and the NCAA Champion will be crowned on May 29.

Before the season gets going, the Buffaloes will scrimmage Northwestern on January 29 in Evanston, Ill.

All dates and times are subject to change. As always, check CUBuffs.com/lacrosse for the latest on CU lacrosse and follow the Buffaloes on social media @CUBuffsWLax.
