Softball Announces 2022 Schedule
BERKELEY – The California softball team will battle 14 2021 NCAA Tournament teams, six Pac-12 teams that competed in the 2021 NCAA Tournament, three 2021 Women's College World Series participants and 2021 NCAA Champion Oklahoma, during the 2022 season as the Golden Bears announced their schedule on Tuesday.
Fans will be able to watch 18 televised games on the Pac-12 Networks, including three non-conference games.
The Bears will open the campaign in a tournament at Cal State Fullerton, with the season opener slated for Friday, Feb. 11, at noon against San Diego. Cal will also face Dixie State, Ole Miss, the host Titans and Colorado State during the opening weekend.
Cal next heads to Tempe for a tournament hosted by Arizona State from Feb. 18-20, with matchups against Illinois State, Portland State (twice), Minnesota and UTEP on the slate.
The home opener is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 23, against Saint Mary's at 2 p.m. from Levine-Fricke Field, and that game will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks. The Bears will host two other non-conference games on the Pac-12 Networks - Sacramento State on March 23 and UC Davis on April 19.
Following another non-conference home game against Pacific on Wednesday, March 2, Cal hops on a plane down to San Diego from March 4-6 where the Bears will compete in contests at San Diego State, USD and UC San Diego. Meetings against Boston and BYU will also be featured in San Diego.
The final tune-up weekend before Pac-12 play will feature the Bears heading to Hawaii for five games from March 9-12. Highlighting the weekend in Hawaii will be a battle against the defending national champion Sooners on March 11. Two matchups against Hawaii and Baylor also await Cal in Honolulu.
The Pac-12 Conference opening series is set for March 18-20 in Berkeley against Washington. Cal will also play Oregon State (April 1-3), Stanford (April 14-16) and Arizona (May 6-8) in Berkeley. The series against the Huskies and the Cardinal will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks.
The Bears will hit the road to face Pac-12 foes Oregon (March 25-27), Utah (April 8-10), Arizona State (April 29-May 1) and UCLA in the final series of the regular season from May 12-14. The series at Utah and Arizona State will also be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
Sandwiched in the middle of conference play will be a weekend series at Miami of Ohio from April 22-24.
Further information regarding tickets and Cal's home live stream will be released at a later date closer to the start of the 2022 season. All games times are subject to change.
