Utah Football Adds 20 During Early Signing Day

Dec 15, 2021

SALT LAKE CITY – University of Utah Football head coach Kyle Whittingham announced the addition of 20 players to the 2022 roster during early signing day, giving the mantra "Next Man Up" an added layer of excitement with the addition of the new Utes.

National Letters of Intent started rolling in before the clock struck 7 a.m. in Salt Lake City with the Utes' 2022 class with 247Sports ranking Utah's group the fourth-best in the Pac-12 this season.

The Utes' signing class comprises of 10 athletes on offense (QB, 2; WR, 3; TE, 2; OL, 2; RB, 1), nine on defense (DL, 4; DB, 3; LB, 2) and one player designated as an athlete. Utah's class also includes two four-star recruits (Lander Barton, LB; Nate Johnson, QB) and 16 three-star recruits out of the 18 true freshmen that signed with the Utes today.

Utah also brought in two Division I transfers today, adding size and strength to an already elite tight end room for the Utes (Logan Kendall, Idaho; Landon Morris, Syracuse).

As the names came in today during signing day, it was evident that the Utah coaching staff got to work this year, going from coast-to-coast and even over the Pacific Ocean to bring in the next group of Utes.

The 2022 Utes represent 10 different states in the country: Utah (4), California (4), Florida (3), Washington (2), Texas (2), Hawaii (1), Idaho (1), Indiana (1), Alabama (1) and Oklahoma (1).

The new signees will join a Utah squad that won its first-ever Pac-12 Championship this season after winning the Pac-12 South title for the third time in four years. The Utes are set to play in the Rose Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022 against Ohio State with the game kicking off at 2 p.m. PT/3 p.m. MT.
