Shakaun Boswer Added To 2022 Recruiting Class

Dec 17, 2021

BOULDER – Karl Dorrell added another letter-of-intent signee to the 2022 football recruiting class, as Shakaun Bowser, an outside linebacker from Queen Creek, Ariz., signed with the Buffaloes on Friday.

Bowser, a 6-4, 225-pound senior from Casteel High School, is the 20th high school star and signee of the 2022 class.  Queen Creek is a suburb on the southeast side of Phoenix.

"Shak is a dynamic edge rusher slash outside backer," Dorrell said.  "He has excellent rush skills, plays in coverage well, and will be a great, versatile piece for us on our defense."

At Casteel, he amassed almost 150 tackles with 29 tackles for loss and 18 sacks and added 28 quarterback hurries, seven pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

His senior season he had 44 tackles, nine for a loss and 4.5 sacks, and his junior season he had 77 tackles including 12 for a loss with 11 sacks.

"I'm really excited about his potential," outside linebackers coach Brian Michalowski said.  "He's got a long body type, 6-4, 225, he really has a lot of great burst out of blocks and plays with a great motor.  He's really explosive through contact, when he strikes you can hear it on the field.  He has a great dip-and-bend as a pass rusher. He has older siblings that are 6-foot-6-plus, we feel like he's not even done growing, he has a lot of potential in development but is also a great character kid that will push competitiveness among our defense."

He also participated in track & field at Casteel High School.

The Buffs have now signed a player from Arizona in three straight classes and Arizona becomes the eighth state or territory for the 2022 class.
