Dec 18, 2021

CHICAGO - The National Women's Soccer League held the 2022 NWSL College Draft Saturday morning, with Husky midfielder Olivia Van der Jagt taken with the 33rd pick by OL Reign in the third round.

Van der Jagt finished her five seasons at Washington as the career leader in total matches played with 88, breaking the record late in the season. She scored 12 career goals and added in nine assists over her UW career. In the spring season of 2021, Van der Jagt was named a member of the All-Pac-12 Third Team as well as the United Soccer Coaches All-Academic Second Team. Van der Jagt was a leader on that squad that reached the Sweet 16, scoring in the NCAA Tournament against Liberty.

Van der Jagt, from Kent, Wash., is the third ever Husky selected in the NWSL Draft. Kimberley Keever was taken in the Second Round by the Houston Dash in 2018 and Sarah Shimer was also drafted by the Dash in 2018 in the Fourth Round.

NWSL Training Camp is set to begin February 1, 2022 with matches set to begin March 19 for the 10th season of the NWSL.
