Pietro Grassi (L) and Tucker Lepley (R) received honors from a pair of national outlets

LOS ANGELES – UCLA men's soccer student-athletes Pietro Grassi and Tucker Lepley each received All-Freshman honors from national outlets this week.

Both were named to the College Soccer News All-Freshmen First Team, and both were featured on TopDrawerSoccer's Freshman Best XI teams, with Lepley making the first team and Grassi the second.

With two selections on the TDS Best XI squads, UCLA had more representation than the rest of the Pac-12 Conference combined (one).

The All-Freshman honors are the latest in a string of postseason accolades for the Bruin duo. Grassi was a First Team All-Far West Region selection and All-Pac-12 Second Team choice, while Lepley was a second team all-region pick.

Grassi, a center back, was a stalwart on the back line for the Bruins, starting every game and playing a team-high 1,708 minutes over the course of the season. With him patrolling the defensive third, UCLA posted four clean sheets and allowed one goal or fewer in 12 of 19 games.

Lepley, a midfielder, paced the Bruins in scoring with 17 points (5-7-17). He finished the season ranked fifth in the Pac-12 in assists, and sixth in total points. He's the first UCLA freshman to lead the team in points since Matt Hundley in 2018.
