Bears Set For Clash With No. 7 Trojans

Jan 5, 2022
Jalen Celestine and the Golden Bears will look to hand No. 7 USC its first loss of the season Thursday night.

BERKELEY – California will take a five-game win streak into its Pac-12 men's basketball clash with No. 7 USC at 8 p.m. PT on Thursday in Haas Pavilion. The contest will be televised on FS1.

The Golden Bears (9-5, 2-1 Pac-12) most recently earned a 24-point win, 76-50, against Arizona State on Jan. 2 for their ninth consecutive home victory. With No. 5 UCLA coming into Berkeley on Saturday, this marks the first time that the Bears have played two top-10 teams in the same week since 1975 when they face USC (then-No. 6) and UCLA (then-No. 2).

USC (12-0, 2-0) is off to its best start since 2017, but has not played since Dec. 18. The Trojans are one of three (Baylor, Colorado State) undefeated teams across the country and have defeated Cal six straight times dating back to Jan. 4, 2018.

In order to attend events at Haas Pavilion this season, all fans 3 and older must either show proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to enter the facility.
