BERKELEY – Cal senior Isabel Ivey has been named the Pac-12 Swimmer of the Month for December after posting three swims that rank among the top four times in the country and helping Golden Bear relays secure five NCAA A qualifying times.
The reigning Pac-12 Swimmer of the Year, Ivey produced her results at the Minnesota Invitational Dec. 1-4 in Minneapolis. Competing in an elite field that featured three of the nation's five highest-ranked teams, Ivey captured the 200-yard individual medley in 1:53.90 and the 200-yard freestyle in 1:43.13, while also taking second place in the 100-yard free in 47.57. She also swam a leg on all Cal's relays to help them automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships in March.
Following her performance, Ivey ranks third nationally in the 200 IM and fourth in the country in the 100 free and 200 free. She also rates among the NCAA's top 25 in the 50 free (24th, 22.23), 100 back (12th, 51.74) and 100 fly (12th, 51.81).
Last season, Ivey won three individual and four relay titles at the Pac-12 Championships. At the NCAA meet, she helped the 200 free relay earn the national title and had top-4 individual performances in the 100 free, 100 back and 100 fly.
