Men's Tennis Readies for Sherwood Collegiate Cup
LOS ANGELES – The UCLA men's tennis team returns to the courts Saturday to kick off the three-day Sherwood Collegiate Cup in Thousand Oaks, Calif. The Sherwood Country Club will host the event, which was not played in 2021.
Organizers unveiled a new format for the 2022 installment of the Sherwood Collegiate Cup, as the Bruins will compete in hidden dual matches with Stanford, Texas A&M and USC. Each clash of teams will consist of four doubles contests and eight singles matchups.
The Bruins posted results at five fall tournaments in October and November 2021. Sacramento, Calif. natives Stefan Leustian and Karl Lee logged the most favorable decisions, with eight and five wins, respectively. Sophomore Leustian concluded his fall campaign with a trip to the quarterfinal round at the SoCal Intercollegiate Championships. Freshman Lee was twice triumphant at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships.
The doubles combination of senior Patrick Zahraj and freshman Giacomo Revelli made the most of its first tournament, reaching the final round at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships. Zahraj notched a team-high four doubles victories in the fall.
