#ThrowsU, Women Vaulters Shine in First Indoor Meet

FLAGSTAFF, Arizona - ASU's throwers and pole vaulters kicked off the indoor season Friday at Northern Arizona's Axe 'Em Open by claiming two event crowns and six total podium finishes. NCAA tri-champion and indoor shot record holder Turner Washington won the shot with a 21.33m/69-11.76 heave, while Mya Lesnar went 15.65m/51-4.25 to win on the women's side and finish inches shy of cracking the program all-time top-10 list. Freshman Paris Bond took silver in the high jump (1.66m/5.44) and tied for second in the pole vault (3.65m/11-11.7).
 
ASU's full squad will be in action next Friday Jan. 22 at the New Mexico MLK Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
