Bruins Cap Cougar Classic with Facility Records

Spokane, Wash. – UCLA Track & Field wrapped its first weekend of indoor team competition with the Invite slate at the Cougar Classic, as the squad compiled a pair of event victories and seven marks that broke previous facility records at the Podium in Spokane, Wash.
 
Sprints
Makenzy Pierre-Webster led the way for the Bruin women in the short sprints, finishing sixth overall in the 60m with a time of 7.40 and third in the 200m with a time of 23.86. The junior now ranks fourth all-time in UCLA indoor history in the 60m and fifth in the 200m. Catherine Leger also notched a pair of PRs in the aforementioned events, going 7.45 in the 60m prelims and 23.94 in the 200m. Maddy Doane was the third Bruin woman to duck under the previous facility record (24.66) in the 200m, clocking a time of 24.35 for eighth place in the 200m.
 
Myles Misener-Daley was the class of the men's 400m race, winning the event with a time of 47.54 to set a new facility record. Seth Holloway doubled for the Bruin men in the 60m (6.83) and 200m (21.85), finishing sixth and fourth in the events, respectively. Cristian Moore was sixth in the 200m with a time of 21.91.
 
Throws
Jacob Wilson and Dayne Gordien secured a 1-2 finish in the men's shot put. Wilson set a new facility record with a toss of 17.94m (58-10.25) and Gordien followed with a mark of 16.64m (54-07.25). Natalie Ramirez was 12th in the women's weight throw with a toss of 14.35m (47-01.00)
 
Middle Distance / Distance
Kai Wingo was the Bruins' lone participant in the men's 800m, finishing third overall with a time of 1:53.9. Anthony Stone (4:11.28) and Jake Parker (4:11.66) were the Bruin men's top finishers in the mile, taking third and fifth place, respectively. After a 1-2 showing in the women's 3000m on Friday evening, Alyssa Bautista (5:05.77) and Kate Tugman (5:13.88) finished fifth and 11th overall, respectively, in the women's mile on Saturday.
 
Jumps / Hurdles
Sean Lee secured a third-place finish for the Bruin men in the high jump, clearing 2.05m (6-08.75) in the first event of the Invite section on Friday evening. A quintet of Bruin women toed the line in the long jump, with Isa Videler leading the way with a mark of 5.31m (17-05.25).
 
Sydney Johnson and Aiden Lieb earned sixth-place finishes in the women's and men's 60m hurdle competitions, respectively. Johnson capped her first collegiate meet with a time of 9.07 and Lieb went 8.21 in the final.

UCLA Track & Field is splitting squads for its next weekend of competition. The UW Invitational in Seattle, Wash., is scheduled for Jan. 28-29 and the UNM Team Open in Albuquerque, N.M., is scheduled for Jan. 28.
