Women's Basketball Set to Face #2/#3 Stanford

THE GAME
The University of Utah women's basketball team opens Pac-12 play on Sunday afternoon when they host #2/#3 the Cardinal of Stanford University. Tip-off is set for 12 p.m. MT from the Jon M. Huntsman Center.

The first 200 fans will receive an Under Armour Utah Beanie into the game.

Mask Mandate in the Jon M. Huntsman Center
The University of Utah has issued a campus mask order consistent with the Salt Lake County mask order that went into effect on Jan. 8. All people are required to wear well-fitting masks indoors on-campus, which applies to all Utah Athletics events that take place in the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
 
Postgame Meet and Greet 
With the rise in COVID-19 cases in the state of Utah, the athletics department will not be holding postgame meet and greet opportunities with student-athletes. 
 
OPENING TIP
• Utah opens Pac-12 play on Sunday afternoon when they welcome the No.2/3 team, the Cardinals of Stanford University to the Jon M. Huntsman Center. Utah brings the top-scoring offense in the conference into the contest. Utah is averaging 85.7 points per game, the third-most in the nation, and is the only school in the Pac-12 in the top 20. 
• Returning from a 24-day layoff on Friday, the Utah Utes came out and didn't miss a beat by showing people their high-scoring offense as they scored 89 in the win over UC Riverside. This was the sixth time that the Utes scored over 80 points this season. They have scored 100 or more in three games this season. 
• Head Coach Lynne Roberts picked up the 100th win of her Utah career on Friday with an 89-48 victory over UC Riverside. She is now the third coach in program history to win 100 games as a Ute. 
• Sharing is caring! Utah leads the Pac-12 in assists (232) and assists per game (19.3). Utah also leads the Pac-12 in assist to turnover ratio (1.4). In each of those three categories, Utah ranks in the top 20 in the nation. The Utes have tallied an assist on 63 percent of their field goals. 
• Utah has hit eight or more threes in 71 games under the direction of Lynne Roberts, going 52-19 in those games. Utah has made ten or more threes in seven games this season. Utah averages 10.9 made three-pointers per game and has made 131 on the season. Both of those lead the Pac-12.

TEAM NOTES
 • Utah has hit eight or more threes in 71 games under the direction of Lynne Roberts, going 52-19 in those games. Utah has made 8+ threes in seven games this season, including five with 10+ (19 vs. Lipscomb, 11/10, 14 vs. Xavier, 11/13, 12 at Hawaii, 11/27, 16 vs. Eastern Illinois, 11/28, 12 vs. BYU, 12/4, 15 vs. Cal State Fullerton, 12/10, 12 vs. UC Riverside 1/14). 
• The Pac-12 has been the nation's top-rated conference by RPI in four of the last six seasons, with the Utes facing a Top 25 opponent almost every week. Under the direction of Lynne Roberts, the Utes have knocked off a Top 25 opponent each year, all coming during conference play. Utah will look to add to that list on Sunday.
• During the 2018-19 season, the Utah Utes defeated No. 6 Stanford 75-68 in the Jon M. Huntsman Center. This was the first win over Stanford in program history. The win over No. 6 Stanford was the highest win over a ranked team in school history. The Utes also defeated No. 6 Long Beach State in 1984.
• The Utes returned from their 24-day layoff on Friday afternoon when they hosted UC Riverside in a non-conference contest. The Utes defeated the Highlanders 89-48 for their ninth win of the season. 
• Utah hit 12 three-pointers in the game. This was the seventh time this season hitting ten or more three-pointers in a game. 
• The Utes are sharing the basketball with the best of them in the nation this season. Utah has tallied 232 assists on 366 made field goals. Utah is picking up an assist on 63 percent of their makes. Utah ranks first in the Pac-12 in assists (232), assists per game (19.3), and assist to turnover ratio (1.4). The Utes have seven games this season with 20 or more assists, including 22 against UC Riverside in the Utes last game.
• Utah opened the season with back-to-back 100-point games. This was the second time in program history that Utah scored 100 or more in back-to-back games. The first time this happened was during the 1978-79 season.
Dru Gylten had a season's best ten assists against the Sooners on Dec. 21st. She was three off of her career-high 13, which she set last season against Montana State. Gylten entered the season at No. 10 on Utah's career assists list and has already moved to fifth this season. Gylten leads the Pac-12 and is eighth in the nation in assists per game (6.1). She also is first in the Pac-12 with 73 assists on the season. Her 73 assists rank 34th in the nation. 
• Head Coach Lynne Roberts picked up the 100th win of her Utah career on Friday with an 89-48 victory over UC Riverside. She is now the third coach in program history to win 100 games as a Ute. 
• Brynna Maxwell continues to shine for the Utes. She is one of the best three-pointer shooters in the country. She leads the team in made threes this season with 34, the second-best mark in the Pac-12. Over her three years, Maxwell has made 160 threes, which is the eighth most in program history.

Following the contest against Stanford, Utah travels to Arizona to continue Pac-12 play when they travel to Arizona on Jan. 21 and Arizona State on Jan. 23.
