PASADENA, CA – The NFLPA Collegiate Bowl announced Tuesday that former Cal tight end Jake Tonges has accepted an invitation to participate in the 2022 edition of the game to be televised live from The Rose Bowl by NFL Network on Saturday, Jan. 29 (3 pm PT). Tonges is one of three former Cal players to have accepted an invitation to the contest along with former Golden Bear teammates quarterback Chase Garbers and outside linebacker Cameron Goode.
The NFLPA Collegiate Bowl began in 2012 and was played for nine consecutive years before the 2021 experience was virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

— Announced he was foregoing his final season of collegiate eligibility to declare for the 2022 NFL Draft on Jan. 6, 2022
— Played in 41 of 42 possible games with 23 starts over his final four seasons at Cal from 2018-21 after redshirting as a 2017 true freshman, recording 47 receptions for 620 yards with four touchdowns, as well as five tackles
— Played in 12 games with a career-high 11 starts and recorded career highs of 22 catches, 278 yards receiving and two touchdown grabs as a 2021 senior when he was Cal's nominee for the Burlsworth Trophy given annually to the nation's top FBS player who began his collegiate career as a walk-on
— Participated in a career-high all 13 games with nine starts including each of the team's last eight contests as a 2019 sophomore and recorded 13 catches, 262 yards receiving and a career-high 20.2 yards per reception average that was also a team best, and one touchdown grab that came on a career-long 60-yarder at Ole Miss that was the longest Cal play from the line of scrimmage in 2019
