USC Track & Field Opens Indoor Season At Red Raider Invitational

The USC Track & Field team will open the indoor season at the Red Raider Invitational held in the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas on Jan. 21.  This meet marks the first official competition for the USC track and field program with Quincy Watts as the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country.  He was named to the position on June 17, 2021 after eight seasons as an assistant coach for the Trojans.

A strong field of teams is scheduled to be competing including Abilene Christian, Arkansas (women), Barton CC, Houston, Kentucky, LSU, 
New Mexico Junior College, Oklahoma State, SMU, South Plains College, Texas Southern, Texas, Texas Tech and Western Texas.

Expected to compete for the Trojans are:

Women: Alyssa Blockburger, Alyssa Brewer, Janiah Brown, Jan'Taijah Ford, Kimberly Harris, Jasmine Jones, Bailey Lear, Gigi Maccagnini, Mecca McGlaston, Makhaila Mills, Chioma Okonkwo, Jemima Russell, Rae-Anne Serville, Lanae-Tava Thomas, Jalaysiya Smith

Men: Eric Allen Jr., Johnnie Blockburger, Davonte Burnett, Jack Carter, Dylan Gatua, Zion Gordon, Jalyn Jackson, Kasaun James, Curtis Johnson III, Alex Mainvielle, Bobby Poynter, Nicholas Ramey, Earnest Sears III, Zach Shinnick, Brendon Stewart

Last season, USC's women's team placed fourth and the men's team 11th at the NCAA Indoor Championships.  The women's team went on to capture the NCAA Outdoor title and the men placed fifth during the outdoor season.

USC will next be in action at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. on Jan. 28 and 29.
