Jackson Rivera Leads USC Men's Golf In Southwestern Invitational Opener

Jan 24, 2022
Jackson Rivera opened the 2022 spring season with a 1-under 71.

Freshman Jackson Rivera, who led USC in all four tournaments to start his career, picked up where he left off Monday (Jan. 24) with a 1-under 71 to lead the Trojan men's golf team in the spring-schedule-opening Southwestern Invitational at North Ranch C.C. in Westlake Village, Calif.

The Trojans combined for an 11-over 299 in their first 18 holes of 2022. Georgia leads the tournament at 9-under while Arizona State is second at 5-under, host Pepperdine third at 1-under.

Rivera was looking at potentially his second round in the 60s this season by going out at 6-under through 15, but blemishes on 16 and 17 saw him settle instead for 71. Still it was his team-best seventh round of par or better.

Krando Nishiba, in his first action of his sophomore season, carded a 2-over 74 thanks to a 1-under back 9 and is tied for 33rd. Fellow sophomore Shane Ffrench is tied for 38th at 3-over.

Senior Cameron Henry is tied for 56th at 7-over while freshman Gavin Aurilia is 62nd at 9-over.

Junior transfer Parker Sisk also made his debut today as a Trojan while playing individually and joins Nishiba in a tie for 33rd.

USC begins the second round Tuesday at 8 a.m. PT. Golf Channel will air live coverage beginning at 1:30 p.m. PT.
