Stefanovic Tabbed Pac-12 Freshman of the Week

Jan 24, 2022

SAN FRANCISCO – Utah men's basketball guard Lazar Stefanovic picked up his second Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honor after averaging 11 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists this past week for the Runnin' Utes.

Stefanovic is the first Ute freshman to earn the honor multiple times in a single-season. The Belgrade, Serbia, product has now earned two of Utah's four FOW honor since the award started in 2019-20. His first award came back on Dec. 6.

The 6-7 guard started the week with a tough game at Arizona State scoring just five points with five rebounds before exploding for a season-high 18 points on 4-7 from 3-point range to give Utah a chance against #9/9 UCLA on Thursday. Stefanovic followed up with 10 points, two rebounds and three assists against #16/15 USC.

His 18 points against the Bruins and 10 points against the Trojan is just the third time Stefanovic has notched double-digit points in back-to-back games so far this season.

Utah hits the road this weekend as it opens up play at Washington State on Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 8 p.m. (MT) before battling the Washington Huskies on Saturday, Jan. 29, at 3 p.m. (MT). Both games are scheduled to air on Pac-12 Networks.
