Musselman Named MPSF/KAP7 Player of the Week
LOS ANGELES -- UCLA redshirt senior Maddie Musselman (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar HS) has been named the MPSF/KAP7 Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Musselman returned to the Bruins after a two-year hiatus to train and compete in the Tokyo Olympic Games and resumed her stellar collegiate career this past weekend leading the Bruins to a 5-0 record at the UCSB Winter Invitational (Jan. 21-23). She scored a team-high and MPSF opening week-high-tying 14 goals on just 20 shots (.700) and also led the Bruins in assists (five), total points (19), and steals (10).
Musselman also drew three exclusions and won all three of her sprints on the weekend. She scored multiple goals in all five games, including four each in wins over OUAZ (Jan. 22) and No. 18 UC Santa Barbara (Jan. 23). She also registered three assists for seven total points and added two steals and drew two exclusions in the win over the Gauchos. Musselman also contributed two goals apiece in wins over No. 23 Wagner (Jan. 21), No. 21 California Baptist University (Jan. 22), and No. 9 UC San Diego (Jan. 23). She also added four steals, one assist, and drew one exclusion against CBU.
This is the 11th career MPSF weekly award for Musselman (four Player of the Week and seven Newcomer of the Week), last earning the Player of the Week honors on Mar. 5, 2019.
