SEATTLE -- The Husky women's tennis team (3-0) heads for a big early season test this weekend in Los Angeles as part of the ITA Kickoff Weekend. Washington is one of sixty women's teams around the country this weekend vying for a spot in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships by looking to win a four-team regional, hosted by the fourth-ranked UCLA Bruins.

The ITA Kickoff Weekend features 15 sites, with four teams at each site. The winner of each single-elimination, four-team tournament advances to the 2022 ITA Division I National Team Indoor Championship in Madison, Wisconsin, from Feb. 11-14.

The Huskies open up against Denver on Friday morning at 10 a.m. Then the Bruins will host Cal Poly at 1 p.m. The winners of those two matches will play on Saturday at 1 p.m., while the consolation match for the non-advancing teams is Saturday at 10 a.m.

Denver is playing its season-opener on Friday. The Pioneers won the Summit League Tournament last season and dropped an NCAA Championship first round match at Texas. Denver was 14-4 a year ago and was picked to repeat as league champs this season.

The Bruins are tied for fourth in the current ITA national rankings, but were upset on Wednesday by Loyola Marymount, by a 4-3 score. UCLA currently has two ranked singles players in No. 49 Alexandra Vagramov and No. 68 Abbey Forbes. Last season, UCLA won the Pac-12 regular season title and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals, finishing 22-5.

Cal Poly had a season-opening 4-3 win over Gonzaga on Jan. 22. Last season, the Mustangs went 14-3 overall, falling in the Big West Conference tournament final against UC Santa Barbara.
