USC Track & Field Has Strong Start At Razorback Invitational

Kasaun James took second in the men's 200m dash with the eighth-fastest time in USC history and Sam VanDorpe took second in the men's 600m race with a personal best to lead the Trojans during the first day of the Razorback Invitational today (Jan. 28)

  • James took second in the final heat of the men's 200m and second overall with a time of 20.82.  That time moved him into eighth on USC's all-time indoor 200m list.  He led a strong group of Trojans as USC athletes earned three of the top five finishes.  Johnnie Blockburger placed fourth with a time of 21.10 and Eric Allen Jr. took fifth with a time of 21.12.
  • VanDorpe took second in the final heat of the men's 600m and overall with a personal-best time of 1:18.10.  VanDorpe took more than a second off his previous career best in the event.
  • Also placing second in an event was USC's high jump All-American Earnest Sears III.  Sears had a clearance of 7-2.25 (2.19m) on the day.
  • Jan'Taijah Ford had a PR of 23.34 in the women's 200m to finish fifth.  Her time is just 0.02 second outside of USC's all-time top 10 in the event.
