A Kevin Kobrine kill and a couple of Lewis errors evened the score at 14-all. The Flyers answered with the next three points and went on to extend the margin to 17-22. An Alex Knight kill and an Ido David ace sliced the gap to 19-22. A service error and a Kobrine swing reduced the margin to 21-23. However, Lewis responded with the next two points to clinch the set at 21-25. The Flyers hit .429 for the set to .241 for the Bruins.

Lewis moved out to a 3-7 edge in set two. A Kobrine/Guy Genis/Grant Sloane block made it 6-7. The Flyers answered right back with a flurry to go up 7-12 and then extended the lead to 8-15. A Sloane kill made it 13-17 and then a McHenry spike put the deficit at 14-18. A series of service errors left the Bruins down 17-22. A McHenry swing and a Marcus Partain ace narrowed the gap to 19-22. The Flyers finished out the set with three kills for a 20-25 win. UCLA hit .105 for the frame to .286 for Lewis.

David served UCLA into a 3-0 lead to begin set three. Lewis came right back to level the score at 6-all. A pair of Knight swings had UCLA up 10-8 and 12-10. After being tied at points 18,19 and 20, the Flyers moved in front by 20-22. Swings by Knight, with his fifth kill of the frame, and David, with his sixth kill of the set, saved match points, but the Flyers had the final answer for a 23-25 victory. UCLA hit over .300 for the frame to .286 for Lewis.
