Perfect Weekend Complete

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – No. 2 Stanford took down LIU 21-7 and Salem 19-3 on Sunday afternoon, completing a perfect weekend with four victories at the Michigan Invitational.

The Cardinal opened Sunday with a 21-7 rout of LIU, reaching the 20-goal mark for the second time over the weekend after beating Marist 22-5 on Saturday. Later in the day, Stanford produced its best defensive performance of the tournament, allowing only three goals in the win over Salem.

Stanford's offense was extremely efficient on Sunday, converting 58.3 percent of its chances against LIU and 59.4 percent of its attempts against Salem.

The Cardinal now shifts its attention to next weekend's Stanford Invitational, welcoming six teams and hosting two days of competition at the Avery Aquatic Center. Stanford will open play on Saturday against California at 10:30 a.m.

No. 2 Stanford 21, LIU 7

Aria Fischer scored a game-high four goals off four shots while Chloe Harbilas and Katie Lyons added three apiece as the Cardinal cruised to an easy win.

Lyons fired off a game-best six shots while Makenzie Fischer and Christina Hicks contributed five each as Stanford outshot LIU 36-25. Nine different Cardinal players found the cage.

Stanford built an 11-3 halftime lead and kept the pressure on during the second half.

Maya Avital started and made eight saves through three quarters before giving way to Megan Peterson in the final period.

No. 2 Stanford 19, Salem 3

Ryann Neushul set the tone with four first-half goals, helping Stanford put the finishing touches on a perfect weekend.

The Cardinal scored 19 goals off 31 attempts, good for a 61.3 percent clip. Neushul led an offensive charge that included goals from nine different players.

Christina Hicks scored three goals off three attempts, Sophie Wallace chipped in with two assists and Eleanor Facey found the cage for her first two career scores.

Megan Peterson made her first career start in goal, coming up with five saves and playing all 32 minutes.
