After leading Oklahoma to a 11-2 record and a Valero Alamo Bowl victory during his freshman year, Williams has officially declared his intention to join the USC Trojans. Reactions to the former five-star recruit’s announcement were swift and forceful, leaving little doubt that USC has returned to the center of the college football world.
Famous USC alumni were predictably over the moon about the addition.

Pac-12 Commissioner George Kliavkoff, who has made it clear that he intends to return the Conference of Champions to the pinnacle of college football, also made his feelings on the signing known.

Many pundits believe the Williams addition can vault USC into the discussion for the CFP for this season and many to come.
With Caleb Williams at QB @USC_FB will likely be a top 10 team and a solid dark horse pick for the CFP in 2022...CFB has desperately needed west coast/Pac 12 relevance and it seems we now have it! @LincolnRiley

Folks, you heard it here first. Next year’s CFP field:
1) USC
2) Texas
3) Texas A&M
4) USC’s scout team— Jason Kersey (@jasonkersey) February 1, 2022
How long will it take USC to make the CFP? 🤔✌️ pic.twitter.com/7PoWWapuod

Will be fascinating to see if Caleb Williams/Lincoln Riley can get USC into the CFP in 2 YRs. CW's very talented but I'm not sure people realize the roster Riley inherited. No doubt the Portal helps but they just went 4-8. DC Alex Grinch REALLY has his work cut out for him there.

Along with other marquee transfers such as Mario Williams and Travis Dye, Caleb Williams' arrival gives USC the top transfer team ranking according to 247Sports.

But it isn’t just transfers. As Fox College Football points out, with Lincoln Riley at the helm, USC is back to being a top destination for talent across all levels.
