Huskies Jump Into Top-25 At No. 16

Feb 2, 2022

SEATTLE -- The Husky women's tennis team, coming off its big upset win over then-No. 4 UCLA, jumped into the ITA National Coaches Poll for the first time this season today. Washington (5-0) moved all the way up to No. 16 in the newest rankings.

Last weekend, UW traveled to Los Angeles for the ITA Kickoff Weekend, and earned one of the fifteen qualifying spots to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships held Feb. 11-14 in Madison, Wisconsin. The Huskies had consecutive 4-3 wins to earn their ticket, first outlasting Denver, and then knocking off the Bruins for the first time since 2003, and the first time ever on UCLA's home courts.

The ranking is the first time in the Top-25 for the Huskies since the 2020 season.

Washington will now host Portland this Friday at 12:30 p.m. at the Nordstrom Tennis Center before traveling to ITA National Team Indoors next week. UW's previously scheduled road trip to Rice and Baylor has been canceled.
