Celeste Boureille Joins AC Milan

Feb 3, 2022

BERKELEY – Cal Alumna Celeste Boureille signed a contract with historic Italian club AC Milan until the end of the 2022 season.

Boureille played at Cal from 2012-15. During her time with the Bears, she played in 84 games and tallied 16 goals. She was an All-Pac-12 second team performer in 2015. She was also a three-time Pac-12 All-Academic team member and a member of the CoSida Academic All-District Team in 2015.

"It's just really, really exciting," Boureille said in AC Milan's official release. "I can't wait to get started and to be able to join such a world-class club is really something I am looking forward to. There's so much passion when you play for a club like this. I am looking forward to and excited to be able to share the passion I have for the game as well."

AC Milan currently sit in fourth place in the Women's Serie A, but are just three points from jumping into a tie for second place.

"It's been fun watching Celeste's professional career flourish since leaving Cal," head coach Neil McGuire said. "She was a very special player for us and an even better person. It's awesome to see her sign for one of the most storied professional clubs in the world. There is no one more deserving."

After going undrafted out of college in 2016, Boureille joined the Portland Thorns as a training camp invitee and earned a contract with the club. She played for the Thorns from 2016 to 2021 and helped Portland capture the NWSL Championship in 2017 and the NWSL Shield for best regular season record in 2021. She also helped the Thorns to the 2021 Challenge Cup Title and the 2020 Fall Series Community Shield Championship.

During her stint with the Thorns, she also spent time on loan playing with clubs abroad during the offseason. She spent time with Canberra United and the Brisbane Roar in Australia and the FC Fleury 91 in the French first division.
