Moersdorf, Bahn Finish Second and Seventh in WSU Invitational Pentathlon

SPOKANE, Wash. – Oregon State junior Anneke Moersdorf and sophomore Delaney Bahn kicked off competition at the WSU Invitational & Open on Thursday in Spokane, Wash. with second and seventh-place finishes in the pentathlon, respectively. 
 
Moersdorf, who posted 3840 points in her first career pentathlon, now sits third in the Oregon State record book. Also completing her first career pentathlon, Bahn posted a score of 3492 points and is now fifth in the Oregon State record book. 
 
"We had a really good start to the weekend," said assistant coach Pete Herber. "Anneke and Delaney combined for five event PR's and finished with scores that rank in the top-five all-time at Oregon State. Both competed hard from start to finish today. I hope the effort they put in today will set the tone for the rest of the weekend." 
 
Moersdorf and Banh started competition with the 60-meter hurdles, where Moresdorf clocked a time of 9.02 to finish seventh while Bahn stopped the clock with a personal-best of 9.33, finishing 14th. Following the 60-meter hurdles was the high jump. Notching a new personal-best, Moersdorf tied for third with a clearance of 1.68m (5' 6"). Bahn cleared the height of 1.62m (5' 3.75") to tie for fifth. In the shot put Moersdorf and Bahn posted throws of 10.75m (35' 3.25") and 10.31m (33' 10")(PR) to finish eighth and 12th, respectively.
 
In the long jump, Moersdorf recorded a personal-best mark of 5.92m (19' 5.25") to place second. Her leap landed her second all-time in the Oregon State record books in the long jump. Bahn recorded a leap of 5.71m (18' 8.75") to finish fourth. Moersdorf and Bahn finished competition with the 800 meters, finishing ninth (2:29.42) and 17th (2:39.50), respectively. 
 
Up Next
Action at the Podium in Spokane, Wash. will continue tomorrow at 9 a.m. The Beavers' first field event will be the weight throw at 9 a.m. and their first event on the track will be the 400 meters at 2:10 p.m.
