Women’s Tennis Welcomes Idaho State to SLC

Utah Women's Tennis will host the Idaho State Bengals on Friday, Feb 2, at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center. The Utes will start play at 4 pm MT.

LAST TIME OUT
The Utes hit the road for the first time this season. Utah first played the Cincinnati Bearcats on Friday, Jan. 28th. Linda Huang went head to head with Elizbeth Pendergast, ranked 121st in the singles ITA rankings. Huang lost her first set against her ranked opponent 6-2 but fought her way to victory, winning her following two sets, 7-6, 6-2. Anastasia Goncharova battled it out against Bearcat, Maria Santilli. Goncharova won her first 6-3 but was narrowly defeated in the second set, 5-7. She clinched her victory in the third set, 6-2, giving the Utes the point they needed to win the match, 4-3, and remain undefeated.
 
Utah then headed to Bloomington, Indiana, to play the Indiana Hoosiers. Lindsay Hung maintained her undefeated title against Hoosier, Rose Hu. Hung lost her first set but was able to come back, winning her next two sets, 5-7 6-0. Madison Tattini was also able to claim another singles point in her tough match against Indiana player Sadya Hernandez. Tattini won her first set 6-1 but lost her second 6-4. She clinched her victory in the third set, winning 6-1. The Utes finished the match 5-2 and the weekend, 6-0. 
 
LAST TIME VS IDAHO STATE
Utah last played Idaho State on Jan. 30, 2021. The Utes won 7-0 against the Bengals.
 
SCOUTING IDAHO STATE
Idaho State has only played in one match this season against Dixie State. The Bengals won 7-0. The Utes also had their first match of the season against Dixie State, where they also won 7-0. Against Dixie State, the Bengals were led by Hana Cho as she earned a victory in No. 1 singles. Lola O'Lideadha returns this year for the Bengals. She led the Bengals in wins, 10-3, last season. She earned her first victory against Dixie State in No. 3 singles. They finished their season 8-8.
 
TOP AUSTRALIAN PLAYERS
Universal Tennis took a look at the top 10 ranked college players from Australia. The results are based on the UTR Ranking. Utah's Linda Huang came in fourth on the list. Her ranking is 10.23 from the UTR Rating.
