First Day of Split Weekend Brings Multiple Event Wins

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Wildcats closed out the first day of their split weekend and the final day of the Ron Mann Classic with multiple athletes finishing with PRs and first place performances in both meets.

Highlights

Ron Mann Classic
In Flagstaff, Trayvion White-Austin placed second both the qualifying and final of the 60m dash with a 6.72 in his finals race, which was only a hundredth of a second away from his PR in the event.

The freshman Carl Hicks topped the podium of the 400m dash at the Ron Mann Classic with a PR of 47.69. Fellow Wildcat Isaac Davis was right behind him for second place with his own indoor PR of 47.76.

The 4x400m relay team claimed the third first place finish of the day and the second in Flagstaff with runners Ivan Zaharchenko, Isaac Davis, Carl Hicks, and Trayvion White-Austin.

WSU Invitational & Open
Jordan Geist won the Open competition in the men's weight throw with an impressive throw of 21.75m. Not only was it an indoor PR for Geist, but also set the arena record for The Podium in Spokane and is now ranked 10th overall in the NCAA in the Weight Throw. To add to the top performances, Mackenna Orie threw a new PR in the women's shot put of 15.98m on the way to also breaking The Podium's arena record and placing first. Youssef Koudssi won the men's open shot put and Zach Landa took fourth. Jakob Chamberlin also placed within the top five in the weight throw and threw a new PR. 

Talie Bonds was another Wildcat that took a top spot in Spokane. In the Women's Invitational high jump, Talie placed second with a jump of 1.79m setting another all time PR, while Alexa Porpaczy and Diana Ramos placed third and fourth with jumps of 1.76m and 1.71m respectively.
