No. 8 USC Men's Swim Suffers First Loss of the Season During Dual Against No. 2 Cal

The No. 8 USC men's swim and dive program endured a 198.5 - 94.5 loss to No. 2 Cal on Friday afternoon at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.

USC drops to 4-1, 2-1 while the Golden Bears improve to 5-0, 4-0. No. 2 Cal led from start to finish, claiming all 14 events.

Freshman Daniel Matheson opened the meet for Troy with a PR in the 1000y free, posting a 9:11.90 for third. Shortlly behind him was junior Ivan Puskovitch in fourth, clocking a 9:27.50.  

USC's Trent Pellini blasted a 52.70 to finish second in the 100y breast, just missing firs Senior Mario Koenigsperger was fourth in 55.35.

Trojan Artem Selin was second in the 50y free (19.76) and third in the 100y free (44.01). Senior Nikola Miljenic touched third in the 50, firing off a 19.92.

Cal finished 1-2 in the final event of the afternoon, further solidifying their win after claiming the 400y free relay.

Tomorrow the Trojans hope to bounce back against No. 11 Stanford on senior day where ten swimmers will be honored prior to the 12 p.m. meet at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
