No. 21 Gym Devils Earn Season High At No. 13 OSU

CORVALLIS, Ore. – With a pair of career highs and multiple season highs, No. 21 Sun Devil Gymnastics scored a season-high 196.550 at No. 13 Oregon State on Saturday night, coming up short to the Beavers' 197.375.

Notable Stats

  • Arizona State (1-3, 1-2 Pac-12) scored a 49.000-plus in all four events for the first time this season for the best team score of the season. ASU has scored 196.000-plus three times this season. On bars, the team did not need to count a score below 9.800.
  • The Gym Devils scored a season-high on vault with a 49.250. In that rotation, two earned career highs with Emily White scoring a 9.850 and Jada Mangahas earning a 9.875. Hannah Scharf also tied her career high with a 9.900.
  • On beam, ASU had a season-high total of 49.050.
  • The lone Gym Devil in the all-around today was junior Hannah Scharf, earning a 39.375. She had the highest score of the night for the team in any event with a 9.900 on vault, matching her personal best in that event. She also had solid 9.850s on bars and floor.
  • Three sophomores had a strong showing in multiple events. Jada Mangahas scored a career-high 9.875 on vault and season-high 9.850 on floor. Emily White had 9.850s on vault (career high) and bars (season high), as well as a 9.875 (season high) on beam. Finally, Sarah Clark had a season high beam score of 9.850 while matching her season high on bars with 9.875 to lead the team in both events.

Rotation One: Bars, 49.175
The Gym Devils got back above 49.000 on bars this week, counting a 9.800 or better for all five scores. In the anchor spot, Clark's 9.875 led the way, followed by 9.850s from White and Scharf. 

Rotation Two: Vault, 49.250
ASU scored a season-high on vault with the 49.250, highlighted by a 9.900 from Scharf. That score ties a career high for her. Both White and Mangahas earned career highs on vault with a 9.850 and 9.875, respectively. Freshman Alex Theodorou earned a solid 9.850 in the anchor spot to round out that event.

Rotation Three: Floor, 49.025
Mangahas and Scharf were clutch at the end of the lineup with a fall coming prior. They both scored a 9.850, which was a season high for Mangahas. Jordyn Jaslow was reliable in the leadoff spot again this week on floor, scoring a 9.825. Jasmine Gutierrez and Sarah Clark made their first appearances on floor this season, scoring a 9.775 and 9.725, respectively.

Rotation Four: Beam, 49.100
After a fall in the first routine, pressure was on for the rest of the lineup to hit and they did. White led the way with a 9.875 to contribute to the season-high beam score. A pair of 9.850s from Gutierrez and Clark were the next highest, season highs for both of them.
