Petchey Clinches Win Over Wisconsin

DENVER – Myah Petchey fought back from an opening-set loss to deliver the clincher for Oregon in a 4-3 over Wisconsin Saturday.
How it Happened: Petchey battled back after dropping a tight opening set, evening up her match at the No. 2 spot by taking another close one in the second. She then cruised to a third-set victory to close out the deciding match with a 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 win. Uxia Martinez Moral put up the third point of the day for Oregon, winning another three-setter at the No. 4 spot, 6-3, 0-6, 6-3 to set up Petchey for the clincher.
Ares Teixido Garcia won two tightly contested sets to sweep her match at No. 3 singles, 7-5, 6-4 to make it 2-0, Oregon. Wisconsin put up the next two points to tie the match at two while Karin Young dropped a three-set match at No. 5 to tie things up at three.
The Ducks got off to a solid start, taking the doubles point for the second time this season to go up 1-0. Petchey and Allison Mulville took care of business at the No. 2 spot with a 6-3 win before Misaki Kobayashi and Ares Teixido Garcia delivered the clincher in a 6-4 victory at No. 3 doubles.
