Ryngler Wins Pac-12 Player of the Week After Dominant Weekend

SAN FRANCISCO - Lexi Ryngler of Arizona Women's Tennis captured her first Pac-12 Player of the Week award after not dropping a single set in three matches to open the season. Ryngler joined the Wildcats in the fall of 2021 for her junior year. 

The Calabasas, Calif., native opened the season with a 6-3, 6-2 win over UTEP's Thassane Abrahim on Jan. 31, before picking up another straight-set victory against NM State's Mingfang Zhu on the same day. 

Ryngler won both singles and doubles at Arizona's home-opener against SDSU on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022. She defeated Nnena Nadozie in two straight 6-1 sets. She and her partner Kirsten Prelle won their doubles match 6-2. 

During her freshman season, Ryngler played at the University of Texas where she was ranked as high as No. 43 in singles. She finished her first season in the No. 53 spot. 

While with the Longhorns, Ryngler won the ITA Texas Regional singles championships, and she defeated four players who were ranked in the top 30 ITA singles. 

Ryngler was named to the Academic All Big- 12 Rookie Team as well as the ITA All-Academic Team in her first collegiate season. 

The Wildcats are 3-0 as they head to Michigan for two matchups against Michigan State on Wednesday, Feb. 9, and Western Michigan on Thursday, Feb. 10.
