No. 7 USC Men's Volleyball Returns To Galen Center For Two-Match Homestand

The USC men's volleyball team returns to the Galen Center for a two-match homestand this week. The Trojans will face No. 8 UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday (Feb. 9) at 7 p.m. PT and then will challenge CSUN on Thursday (Feb. 10) at 7 p.m. PT. USC has an 8-2 record. 

The Gauchos are 5-3 on the 2022 season. This will be USC's third encounter with UC Santa Barbara this year. The Trojans opened up the 2022 with two wins against the Gauchos (a 3-2 victory on Jan. 6 and a 3-1 win on Jan. 7) at the Asics Invitational hosted by UC Santa Barbara at the Thunderdome. Despite those two losses, the Gauchos are on a hot streak, winning their last four matches (two victories against Pepperdine and wins over Penn State and Ohio State). 

CSUN opened the 2022 season three weeks late due to COVID-19 protocols and have a 2-1 record. The Matadors most recently defeated UC Merced 3-1 on Feb. 4. 

Wednesday's match at the Galen Center will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network, and Thursday's home match will be available via live stream (all links found on the men's volleyball schedule page at

USC is ranked 7th in the current AVCA Division I-II Top 15 poll.  UC Santa Barbara is ranked No. 8, while Cal State Northridge is unranked.  

As a team, USC is in the Top 10 in four statistical categories: third in assists (12.29 per set), fifth in hitting percentage (.347), fifth in kills (12.82 per set) and ninth in digs (9.21 per set). 

The Trojans hold a 57-56 record in their series with UC Santa Barbara dating back to 1970. USC is 7-3 in its last 10 matches against the Gauchos and are looking to add another tally to the win column.

USC is 49-34 against CSUN all-time dating back to their first match in 1983. The Trojans are 5-5 in their last 10 matches against the Matadors.
