Osborne in Contention for Two More Major Awards
The accolades keep coming for UCLA junior guard Charisma Osborne, who has been selected to the Top 10 Watch List for the Ann Meyers-Drysdale Award and to the Midseason Team for the Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy for Women's Player of the Year.
Osborne, who is also on the Late Season Top 20 Watch List for the John R. Wooden Award presented by Wendy's, leads UCLA and is ranked third in the Pac-12 in scoring at 16.9 points per game. She has scored in double figures in 13 of the 14 games she has played this season and has five 20-point games to her credit, including a 27-point effort at USC on Jan. 23 and a 26-point output against UConn on Dec. 11, during which she made a career-high seven three-pointers. The Moreno Valley, Calif., native has one double-double to her credit this season, putting up 19 points and 11 rebounds in UCLA's win over St. John's at the Gulf Coast Showcase (Nov. 28). Osborne recently joined UCLA's 1,000-point club and now has 1,021 points in her career.
The Ann Meyers-Drysdale Award, presented to the nation's top shooting guard in women's NCAA Division I basketball, is named after the UCLA legend who was the first player, male or female, named to an All-America team in four straight seasons. Beginning Feb. 11, fans will have an opportunity to vote at hoophallawards.com for the finalists, which will be announced in late February.
This is the second consecutive year in which Osborne has been selected to the Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy for Women's Player of the Year Midseason Watch List.
