Sabally Named To Katrina McClain Award Top 10

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon forward Nyara Sabally has been named to the top 10 watch list for the Katrina McClain Award, given annually to the nation's top power forward.
 
Sabally currently ranks fifth in the conference in scoring, averaging 15.9 PPG while sitting in fourth with a field goal percentage of 55.5. She is putting up 16.8 PPG while grabbing 7.2 rebounds per game in Pac-12 play, and is the only player in the conference averaging at least 16 points and seven rebounds per game in league play.
 
The redshirt junior leads the team with five 20-point games this season with Oregon going 5-0 in those games. Sabally has scored in double figures in eight of the nine conference games she has played in, scoring 15 or more points in seven of those.
 
Earlier this year, Sabally earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors after scoring a career-high 30 points while grabbing 11 rebounds in a win over Oklahoma at the Battle 4 Atlantis. She also averaged 19.0 PPG and shot 65.6 percent from the field in a five-game stretch from Jan. 21-Feb. 4, scoring at least 15 points in each of those.
 
The Berlin, Germany native has reached double figures 30 times in her 37 career games and is averaging 14.1 PPG and 7.0 rebounds per game while shooting 55 percent in her career.
 
The list of finalists for the award will be narrowed down to five later this month while the winner will be announced in April.
