Volleyball to bring in Laura Jansen

Feb 11, 2022

PULLMAN, Wash. - Bolstering their roster for the 2022 season, Washington State Volleyball has officially added Laura Jansen (Arkansas-Little Rock) from the transfer portal as announced by head coach Jen Greeny. Jansen, a native of Doetinchem, Netherlands, will exercise her fifth-year option after playing four seasons for the Trojans.

"We are thrilled to add Laura to the Cougar Volleyball Family," said Greeny. "She brings a lot of experience and depth to our outside hitter position. Not only is she a great volleyball player, but a fabulous young woman!"

A dominant outside hitter for her Trojans team, Jansen finished her four seasons in Little Rock as a two-time First Team All-Sun Belt award winner. She earned three tournament MVP awards in non-conference play as a senior while also taking home a pair of Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week awards on the year. She became just the 10th Trojan in program history to record 1,000+ kills in her career, finishing ninth all-time with 1,098 kills. She would come up with a career-best 31 kills against Central Arkansas as a senior, a tally which ranks as the ninth-best mark in Trojans' history. An all-round talent, Jansen finished her senior season with 17 double-doubles bolstering her career mark to 32 total thanks to her defensive prowess at and away from the net. In all, she recorded 882 digs, 182 blocks, and 59 aces in her career which gave her 1,266 total points, the seventh most in program history. Her stellar play was shown no brighter than when she posted back-to-back 20-20 matches at Arkansas State as a junior finishing with 20 kills and 22 digs the first night before tallying 20 kills and a career-high 24 digs the second night on the road.

Jansen will join the Cougs for the 2022 alongside of Minnesota transfer Shea Rubright who signed earlier in the year with WSU and joined the team for the spring.
