Arizona Falls to Alabama

TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 9 Arizona (2-1) lost to No. 2 Alabama (3-0) in five innings on the second day of the Candrea Classic.
 
Alabama hit five home runs and got a shutout from Lexi Kilfoyl.
 
Janelle Meoño and Carlie Scupin had the only two hits of the game for the Wildcats, a pair of infield singles.
 
Hanah Bowen (1-1) struck out four batters in the first two innings, but ultimately took the loss for Arizona. She gave up six runs and two home runs. Madi Elish relieved Bowen in the middle of the third inning, striking out two of the seven batters she faced, but she gave up two runs. Jessie Fontes pitched the last inning and gave up three runs.
 
The Crimson Tide hit two home runs in the third inning – one solo homer and one three-run homer – to take the lead after two scoreless innings. In the fourth inning, Alabama hit two more solo home runs. Ashley Prange hit her second home run in the fifth inning to score three more runs for Alabama.
