Cal Continues East Coast Trip Sunday At Virginia

GOLDEN BEARS VISIT NO. 11/11 VIRGINIA SUNDAY
— Cal continues its 2022 season by wrapping up a two-game East Coast trip Sunday with its first-ever game at Virginia
— Cal and Virginia will be meeting for the second time in the school's history with the Cavaliers a 17-7 winner in Berkeley on Feb. 16, 2020
— Sunday's forecast is for snow showers and a temperature of 33 degrees at first draw 

FIRST TIME OUT: AT NAVY 18, CAL 10
— Cal opened its 2022 season with an 18-10 loss at Navy on Friday
— Cal got three goals each from both Amanda Morse and Loyola transfer Liz Scott in her first game as a Golden Bear
— Cal won the draw control battle, 19-13, to continues its trend with the Golden Bears having captured more draw controls than their opponents in each of the previous three seasons
— Scott and Catherine Roxas led the Bears with five draw controls each
— Cal spotted Navy a 5-0 lead and never cut the lead to fewer than three goals the rest of the way
— Cal played two goalkeepers in the first game with starer Riley Drullinger being replaced by Alicia Souliotis early in the second half

— Denise Wescott was promoted to associate head coach on Jan. 26, 2022, after serving for three seasons as an assistant coach with the Golden Bears from 2019-21
— Nikki Zaccaro is Cal's active leader in career games played (63), games started (53), points (127), goals (54), assists (73), shots (170) and shots on goal (112)
— Cal had a team bonding trip early in its 2022 training camp in which the team went "glamping" at the Costanoa Lodge in the coastal town of Pescadero just under 70 miles from Berkeley 
  
COMING UP
— Cal begins a three-game homestand by hosting San Diego State in its first home contest of the 2022 campaign on Friday, Feb. 18 (5 pm PST), followed by games against No. 14/14 Denver (Sunday, Feb. 20, Noon PST) and UC Davis (Saturday, Feb. 26, 2 pm PST)

LAST SEASON
— Cal finished 2-16 overall and 0-10 in the Pac-12 in 2021 but seven of the Bears' losses were by two goals or less including four by a single goal and one in overtime 
— Six of Cal's final nine losses in 2021 were decided by two goals or less including a string of five in a row to begin the stretch and its regular-season finale contest against Pac-12 champion and then unbeaten No. 12/13 Stanford
