Top Floor Score of the Season Boosts #13 Oregon State in 197.275-194.450 Victory Over Washington

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The No 13-ranked Oregon State gymnasts secured their fifth win of the season inside Gill Coliseum after downing Washington 197.275-194.450 in the fourth conference meet of the 2022 campaign. The Beavers posted the nation's fifth best floor score of the year to end the day in fashion.

Oregon State started the day with a solid production on vault, which was led by Jade Carey's 9.90. Lauren Letzsch scored a career-best 9.825 to begin the rotation, while senior Kaitlyn Yanish totaled a 9.850 to finish fourth overall. OSU combined for its second consecutive 49.175 on vault to lead Washington, which posted a 49.075 on bars, through the first event.

The Beavers remained steady through the bar rotation after posting another 49.175 as a team. Colette Yamaoka set the tone early as she posted a season-high 9.80. In her fourth bar routine of the season, freshman Carley Beeman swung her way to a 9.75 before Dagen totaled a 9.85 to keep the hot start going. Kayla Bird followed with a 9.80 before Phoebe Jakubczyk added a 9.750. Carey anchored for Oregon State and posted the meet-high 9.975, which was her 18th consecutive 9.9 of her career.

With a 98.350-98.175 lead over the Huskies, Oregon State opened beam with a career-best 9.825 for Jakubczyk that led to a 49.250 as a team. Letzsch added a 9.775 in the second spot before Sydney Gonzales added a 9.850. Dagen got the crowd to their feet as she rolled in a career-best 9.925 to claim the event title while Carey anchored the lineup for the fifth consecutive meet with a 9.875.

Holding onto a 0.425 lead heading into the final rotation following a 49.250 on beam, Gonzales started the floor party with a 9.775. Bird posted a season-best 9.85 in the second spot, while Letzsch topped a career-best 9.925 to once again get Beaver Nation roaring.

With the meet seemingly in control after Washington had its issues on beam, Dagen, Yanish and Carey closed out the day in fashion. Dagen grabbed a career-best 9.925 while Yanish built the momentum with a career-high 9.975. The floor was Carey's to grab, as the reigning Olympic gold medalist on floor snatched her first Perfect 10 on the apparatus. The score was also her second consecutive meet with a Perfect score after she boasted a 10.0 on bars against No. 21 Arizona State. The 10.0 floor at Oregon State is the first since 2008 when Tasha Smith did so.

Carey took her fifth consecutive all-around title, totaling a 39.750 while Dagen snatched second with a 39.525.

No. 13 Oregon State will be back in action next Friday, Feb. 18 with a showdown at No. 3 Utah. The Beavers and Utes will compete at 5 p.m. PT in Salt Lake City. The meet will be aired on the Pac-12 Network inside the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
