Amari Avery Ties For Sixth At Lamkin Invitational To Lead USC Women's Golf

Amari Avery tied for sixth in the Lamkin Invitational, her debut stroke play tournament with the Trojans.

Freshman Amari Avery tied for sixth while sophomore Brianna Navarrosa finished 11th to highlight the No. 16 USC women's golf team's efforts Tuesday (Feb. 15) on the final day of the Lamkin Invitational at the Farms G.C. in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.

USC tied for seventh at 33-over 897 (301-293-303). No. 12 San Jose State overtook No. 1 Stanford to win at 7-over 871, five strokes ahead of the Cardinal. Arizona State was third (20-over).

Avery, in her first collegiate stroke-play tournament, turned in a trio of steady rounds to tie for sixth at 3-over 219 (77-68-74). She was 3-over through her first six holes, but finished the final 12 at 1-under.

Navarrosa notched her second top 11 and third top 20 this season with an 11th at 5-over 221 221 (73-71-77).

Sophomore Michaela Morard tied for 28th at 11-over 227 (76-76-75), her best finish as a Trojan in three outings.

Senior Katherine Muzi tied for 44th at 16-over 232 (77-78-77) while freshman Xin (Cindy) Kou took 59th at 20-over 236 (75-78-83). It was just Kou's first finish outside the top 15 this season.

USC next competes at the Icon Invitational Feb. 21-22 in Houston.
