Five Bears Named NFHCA Scholars of Distinction

Cato Knipping posted a GPA of 3.9 or higher for the third straight season.

BERKELEY – Five members of the California field hockey team are among more than 280 student-athletes who earned recognition as 2021 NFHCA Scholars of Distinction, the NFHCA announced Tuesday. The Golden Bears receiving honors are Gracie Jimenez, Cato Knipping, Sara Stone, Lyndsay Swanston and Anne Van Hoof.
 
The academic program honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2021-22 academic year.
 
This marks the third consecutive season that Knipping has earned the award and the second straight year that Stone has garnered the honor.
 
The NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Awards will be announced on Feb. 21 and the NFHCA Division I National Scholar-Athlete will be announced on Feb. 23 to wrap up the National Field Hockey Coaches Association academic honors for the season.
