SALT LAKE CITY – Utah's men's tennis head coach Roeland Brateanu has announced the commitment of Dylan Applegate. Applegate is ranked No. 2 in Utah.
"We couldn't be more excited to officially welcome Dylan to our Ute family," stated head coach Roeland Brateanu. "He is a tremendously gifted multisport athlete with a great heart and passion for the game of tennis. He's going to be a great fit and addition to our team."
While attending Park City High School, Applegate played both football and tennis. He was a wide receiver on the football team and played No. 1 singles for tennis. Applegate led the team to their first Team Championship in over a decade. He won the Utah State High School Championships at No. 1 singles during that season.
Over the past two years, Applegate has been ranked in the top three in the intermountain rankings. He has reached a ranking as high of 27 on the USTA National Standing List for 18 and Under. Applegate is a four-star recruit.
Along with being ranked in the top three of the intermountain rankings, he has won multiple intermountain sectional tournaments in singles and doubles action.
"It feels amazing to become a Ute!" remarked Dylan Applegate. "When I came on my official visit, I loved the team, the coaches, the facilities, and I am super excited to have the opportunity to play for Utah in one of the toughest conferences in the country!"
