Feb 15, 2022

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – Behind freshman Carolina Melgrati's final round of even par, Arizona Women's Golf moved up two spots on the leaderboard on Tuesday to finish the Lamkin Invitational in a tie for eighth place at 37-over par. Melgrati's round of 72 moved her up 14 spots on the individual leaderboard as she finished the tournament tied for 12th at 6-over.

"I am proud of our team's resiliency today as we bounced back and posted better scores," said head coach Laura Ianello. "Carolina, Gile and Money all moved up 10 spots or more on the leaderboards today as we finished the tournament on a high note. This week is a great learning experience for our young team moving forward."

Gile Bite Starkute joined Melgrati in the top 20 of the player leaderboards with a final score of 8-over, which put her in a tie for 16th.  Ya Chun Chang gave Arizona a third top-35 score with her 12-over showing in 32nd place.

Battling windy conditions with rain, the Wildcats posted the second-best team score of the day at 11-over par. The team continued to tally good scores on par 5's as Chang and Melgrati finished in the top 12 for the tournament in par-5 scoring.

The Wildcats will travel to the opposite coast for their next tournament, the Florida State Match-Up, which begins on Friday, Feb. 25 in Tallahassee, Florida.
