The Utah Men's golf team will travel to Lihue, Hawaii to compete in the John A. Burns Intercollegiate February 17-19. The three-day tournament, hosted by the University of Hawaii, will run Thursday-Saturday and take place at the Ocean Course Hokuala on the island of Kauai. Utah has competed at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate four times since the tournaments name was changed from Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational prior to the 2015-2016 season. The teams highest finish at the three-day event came in 2018 when the team placed 10th.

Utah will compete in a field of 18 teams that includes seven who are ranked in the top 100 and four in the top 50 - No. 11 Texas A&M, No. 30 Arizona, No. 38 New Mexico, and No. 47 Utah. The rest of the field features Hawai'i, No. 64 BYU, California, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Long Beach State, Northern Colorado, No. 76 Saint Mary's, Santa Clara, UC Irvine, UNLV, USC, UTEP and No. 94 Washington State.

In tournament history, California has won the most team championships with five and UNLV, BYU, Arizona and Texas A&M are all tied for third with three team victories.

The Utes' five-man lineup will consist of five returning starter in seniors Tristan Mandur and Blake Tomlinson, sophomore Javier Barcos, redshirt freshmen Martín León and true freshmen Braxton Watts. Mandur, Tomlinson, Barcos and Leon competed in every fall tournament for the Utes while Watts will be traveling for just the second time in his young career.
COACHES THOUGHTS: Head Coach Garrett Clegg
"It's always fun to go out to Hawaii and its great to get the season started. I'm excited to see what our mainstays in the lineup bring and to see how Braxton has grown in six months. Based on the rankings were one of the seven best teams competing so if we can finish in the top half of that group that would be great."

The 45th John A. Burns Intercollegiate is a three-day tournament consisting of 54 holes with 18 being played each day of the event. The tournament will take place at the Ocean Course Hokuala in Lihue, Hawaii. Teams will tee off each day at 11:00 am MT with a shotgun start format. Texas A&M (845) took home the last team championship back in 2020 and Sam Choi of New Mexico earned the individual title shooting 206 (-10). Choi is back in the field this year and will try to defend his title.

Utah competed in their final fall tournament in the Visit Stockton Invitational October 21-23 in Stockton, Calif. The team finished in fourth place after shooting 22-under (830). Two Utes finished inside the top 10 with Barcos finishing in third and Tomlinson tying for seventh. Barcos shot 13-under (200) the second lowest 54-hole individual score on record at Utah. Tomlinson shot 8-under (205) and was able to climb the leaderboard 13 spots on the final 18 to secure a spot in the top 10. Leon and Mandur also competed in the tournament finishing in 37th and 41st respectively. Leon shot even par (213) while Mandur shot 1-over. Rounding out the team was sophomore Jesper Von Reedtz who shot 5-over (218) to tie for 61st.
