Huskies Defeat Cal Poly In Season Opener, 6-5

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Washington baseball team defeated Cal Poly, 6-5, in the season opener.

Four Huskies picked up two hits tonight with Johnny Tincher and Cam Clayton each going 2-4. In the first inning, Preston Viltz scored on a wild pitch to start the Huskies off. Tincher had two doubles ing the game along with an RBI, leading the Huskies offensively. Will Simpson and AJ Guerrero each picked up an RBI too.

Bryce Armstrong started the game on the mound, racking up three strikeouts over three innings. Stefan Raeth picked up the first win of the season, pitching the next three innings. Ryan Velazquez struck out three Mustang batters over 1.1 innings. Pitching the ninth, Colton McIntosh got the save and secured the win for the Huskies.
