Lacrosse Heads East To Face Harvard Sunday
BOULDER — After opening the season with an overtime win at home against Louisville on February 11, the University of Colorado lacrosse team hits the road for its first contest away from home this season on Sunday, February 20, against Harvard.
The two teams will square off at 12 p.m. ET, 10 a.m. MT, in Cambridge, Mass. The contest is the season opener for the Crimson; it's also the first game for HU since 2000. The Ivy League canceled the 2021 spring sports season due to the pandemic.
This is the second meeting between the two teams. The Buffaloes hosted Harvard in the second game of the 2020 season (February 21). CU won the contest, 9-7, at Kittredge Field and finished the 2020 campaign with a 3-2 mark, while HU would record a 3-3 record that season.
Two of Harvard's goal scorers from the game against CU in 2020, Charlotte Clark and Grace Hulslander, are still on the roster. Each scored one goal against the Buffaloes; Clark had one assist for two points. Olivia Gill led both teams with four caused turnovers also returns, as does Shea Jenkins, who recorded a team-best four draw controls. There will be a different face in net as Grace Rotondo, who made 12 saves, is not listed on the roster.
Sadie Grozier led the Buffs in the season opener with six goals, which included four free-position goals. Charlie Rudy added another three while fifth-year transfer Sam McGee recorded a pair of goals in the victory. Katie Giordano, Morgan Pence and Sydney Zimmerman each tallied one as well.
Grace Donnelly recorded the win in goal, making seven saves. Devon Bayer was a strong presence on the draw controls, winning a career-high 10, including the only one during the overtime period which helped the Buffs take control and win the game.
