No. 10 USC Women’s Tennis Set for Trip to Oklahoma

The No. 10 ranked USC women's tennis team continues the 2022 season with a trip to the Sooner State for duals against Oklahoma State (Feb. 19) and Oklahoma (Feb. 20). Matches both days are scheduled to start at 10 a.m. PT. 
 
RANKINGS
The 6-2 Women of Troy enter this weekend as the No. 10 ranked team in the country (ITA Coaches Poll). USC boasts three Trojans in the national singles rankings with junior Eryn Cayetano topping the rankings at No. 1. Cayetano is the first Trojan to be ranked No. 1 in singles since Sabrina Santamaria on Sept. 6, 2013.  Trojan senior Salma Ewing locked in the No. 18 ranking, while newcomer USC redshirt freshman Snow Han secured the No. 52 rank. 
 
The Women of Troy also boast two ranked doubles pairs. Ewing/Han earn the No. 5 rank, while Cayetano/Piper hold the No. 40 rank. 
 
LAST SEASON
In 2021, the Women of Troy recorded a 13-11 record and went 5-5 in Pac-12 Conference play. After being selected to compete in the 2021 NCAA Tournament, the Trojans upset both Oklahoma and Florida in the First and Second Rounds to advance to the Round of 16 where they fell to North Carolina State. Junior Salma Ewing earned placement in the NCAA Singles Tournament where she fell in the First Round. The Trojans finished No. 27 in the country with three singles players nationally ranked.

SCOUTING OKLAHOMA STATE 
No. 22 Oklahoma State is 4-1 on the season, having faced Princeton (W, 5-2), Ohio State (L, 1-4), LSU (W, 4-0), Missouri (W, 7-0) and Arizona State (W, 4-0). Currently the Cowgirls have one ranked singles player in No. 30 Mananchaya Sawangkaew (7-2). 
 
SCOUTING OKLAHOMA
No. 2 Oklahoma is 11-1 on the season and currently has five nationally ranked singles players. The Boomer's starting lineup includes No. 15 Layne Sleeth (12-5), No. 35 Carmen Corley (9-4), No. 57 Ivana Corley (13-6), No. 88 Anchisa Chanta (7-0) and No. 103 Emma Staker (15-7). Oklahoma also has a pair of ranked duo's in No. 11 Carmen Corley/Ivana Corley (9-3) and No. 47 Alexandra Pisareva/Layne Sleetch (10-4). Most recently, the Sooners finished second at the ITA National Indoor Championships, falling to No. 2 UNC 2-4 after defeating Wisconsin (4-0), No. 1 Texas (4-1) and No. 5 Pepperdine (4-2) to reach the championship match.
