SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Utah track & field DMR team came into South Bend with hopes of running a qualifying time and did just that while posting a new school record time of 10:59.24 late Saturday morning at the Alex Wilson Invitational inside the Loftus Sports Center.
Sophie Ryan ran a time of 3:24.5 in the opening leg of the race followed by a time of 52.2 from Josefine Eriksen. Brooke Manson then ran a mark of 2:07.5 before Simone Plourde finished off the race for Utah with a time of 4:34.5. The team's 10:59.24 time should check in at No. 9 on the NCAA Qualifying list at the conclusion of this weekend's competitions.
The Utah's record-breaking time of 10:59.24 broke the previous mark of 11:05.78 held by Alyssa Abbott (3:24.5), Lauryn McKay (54.5), Lucy Yates (2:07.0) and Amanda Mergaert (4:39.2) set back on March 2, 2012.

Utah returns to a familiar facility next week as it competes in the final meet of the regular-season at the Pac-12 Invitational hosted by Washington inside Dempsey Indoor Track (Feb. 25-26). Next week's meet will serve as the final opportunity for everyone competing to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships.
