Beaver Gymnast Yanish Nominated for AAI Award

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State gymnastics fifth year Kaitlyn Yanish has been named a nominee for the AAI Award, which is presented to the nation's most outstanding senior.
 
The AAI Award is widely considered the Heisman Trophy of women's gymnastics. AAI has been awarding this honor for more than 30 years. NCAA head coach were asked to submit a nomination for the candidate or candidates of their choice. After the initial nominations, the field will be narrowed to the top six student-athletes.

Yanish is one of 35 nominees for the award this year. The senior leader has played an integral role for the Beavers throughout her career and is a two-time All-American as well as three-time All-Pac-12 honoree. The Chandler, Ariz. native has captured 28 individual titles and has garnered three conference weekly awards during her career donning the Orange & Black leo.

This season, Yanish has been in the competitive lineups on vault and floor scoring a season high 9.875 four different times on vault. On floor, she has three 9.9s including tying a career-best 9.975 against Washington on Feb. 13 to finish second on the event behind teammate Jade Carey's Perfect 10.  

Yanish and the Beavers conclude their home season on Friday, Feb. 25 hosting No. 19 Stanford at 7:30 p.m. PT. Oregon State will send of Yanish and the other seniors after the action on Friday.
