Utah Dive & Women's Swimming Open Competition at Pac-12 Championships
TUCSON, Ariz. & FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The Utah dive and women's swimming teams completed the first day of the Pac-12 Championships on Wednesday as freshman Holly Waxman led the way advancing to the 1m final and capturing the sixth-place finish (271.75). Lizzy DeCecco joined Waxman in the 1m final scoring a 261.70, good for eighth-place.
Junior Lexi Mills competed in the B final and totaled 223.90 points.
With the dive portion of the championships completed in Arizona, the focus turned to the pool as the women's swim teams started competition in Federal Way, Wash. Beginning with the 200 medley relay, the Utah 'A' squad of Emma Lawless, Charity Pittard, Katie Hale and Leyre Casarin finished seventh in 1:39.38, a seasons-best time.
Stanford took home the victory (1:34.68) followed by USC (1:35.40) and rounding out the top-three was California (1:36.09).
The 800 free relay was the final event of the night and the Utes 'A' team of Kayla Miller, Summer Stanfield, Alyssa Watson and Molly Jacobson posted the fastest time of the year touching in 7:18.33.
The Pac-12 Championships will continue tomorrow starting with the 500 free, 200 IM and 50 free preliminaries. For dive, the men's 1m prelims kick off the afternoon of competition at 12:00pm MT.
